11th March 2011 Hiking - Walking: Ipswich Wind Direction: Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: sunny :) Max Speed: 5/6 miles (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: With our van in the VW garage,Sproughton Road,Ipswich again to have a seat belt replaced and being invited out to lunch with my Dad and Shirley we had we had 2/3 hours to kill :) So we headed past Morisons to the River Gipping with the plan of looking for the Alderman canal where new footbridges and footpath are being constructed :) At Handford sluice we cut back on ourselves and found the tiny canal walked by it to the Ipswich Town FC staduim,sadly the bridge and footpath work dose'nt finish until the end of the month !!! We then nipped into Costa coffee, The Buttermarket for a quick cuppa but no cake as out to dinner !!! Then back past Portman Road crossing the new footbridge at Ranleigh Road and back at the van just as they were finishing washing it after the repair !!! the second time they have cleaned it in a fortnight - what top service and the repair was under warrenty :) Finishing the day with a top pub lunch at the Douglas Bader,Martlesham. So not a walk in the countryside but a 5/6 mile walk with a differance and fingers crossed for abit of windsurfing over the weekend :) http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2093714&id=1012660562&l=c382705fcc |
